People often ask how I came to have such a unique hobby. It comes down to a classic situation of being in the right place at the right time. The year was 2014, I was at a Marine Corp annual training at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. I was welder, but there wasn’t much to weld. The shop chief had been showing off a knife he had made earlier, which piqued my interest to do the same. Eventually he took notice of what I was doing, and seeing as I didn’t have a clue, was kind enough to mentor me. He also donated some steel to my cause in the form of an old sword. We worked on my knife for three or four days, and by the end I was hooked – even if it did just look like a prison shank. Knife making has been my passion ever since, and I want to share a slice of it with all you fellow knife enthusiasts.
I have a made a few other knives over the years, but in 2019 I decided to turn it into a business, and with that, JW Custom Knives was born. I would like to thank my friends and family, [and all of my brothers and sisters in the armed forces to thank] for ordering a majority of the knives that got the business up and running. I am now equipped to offer sharpening for a variety of edged tools, my own line of knives, and so much more.
I look forward to the opportunity to serve all your knife-related needs!
I received one of John’s custom knives as a gift from a friend. I have a smaller build so compactness with durability was a must for the knife to be usable on a daily basis. Very happy with the sleek design, quality craftsmanship, and one of a kind design. If you’re looking for a custom blade, I definitely recommend JW Knives!
I have two knives from here and love them both. Great quality and can withstand a beating from work. Great service. John is knowledgeable and you can tell he is passionate about what he does.
He is the best, really professional and looking out for the customer. In my experience, he ensured I was able to get my knife jumping through hoops and loops since I am stationed over seas! Best knife I have ever had! Totally worth it! 10/10!
